Potential Native Plant Communities of Northeastern Minnesota

Native Plant Communities (NPCs) are a forest characterization used by the Minnesota DNR, among others. You can read more about NPCs on the DNR's website. The data presented here models potential NPC coverage across the three ecological sections that make up the Laurentian forests of Northeastern and north-central Minnesota.

  • please note: to use the included .lyr file in ArcMap: after adding it into Table of Contents, open Layer Properties (double click), click the source tab, click the Set Data Source button and browse to the folder where you unzipped the archive and choose potnnpcgrid (the grid containing linked attributes). This will set the relative paths and shade the layer correctly.
